Serial ATA (SATA) and Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) are data storage protocol standards that have the primary function of transferring data between the host system and mass storage devices. Next-generation storage technologies such as 22.5 Gb/s SAS and 12Gb/s SATA enable a new performance class of storage hierarchy that unlocks the performance of servers and solid-state drives.
